NOTICE CONCERNING ACCREDITATION PROCESS
BEFORE THE VETERANS ADMINISTRATION
Participants of the Online ICLE Program on the Veterans Administration Process
For those who desire to satisfy the eligibility criteria to practice as a claims agent or attorney before the Veterans Administration, this is a reminder that initial accreditation is a two-step process. First, an attorney must file a VA Form 21a with the Department of Veterans Affairs’ (VA) Office of the General Counsel at the address listed in 38 C.F.R. § 14.629(b)(2) and obtain initial accreditation from VA. Next, the attorney must, within the twelve month-period following accreditation, complete qualifying CLE. 38 C.F.R. § 14.629(b)(1)(iii). Completion of qualifying CLE and certification of admission information are both to be reported as part of the annual certification prescribed in § 14.629(b)(4).
The Institute of Continuing Legal Education in Georgia is the not-for-profit educational service of the State Bar of Georgia; and is a consortium of the Bar and the Law Schools of the Universities of Georgia, Emory, Mercer, Georgia State and the John Marshall Law School.
It is fully self-supporting; and receives all of its income from tuition charges and sale of publications. ICLE exists solely to serve the educational needs of practicing lawyers; with any surplus revenues being devoted entirely to the improvement of CLE products and services.
